‘I’m so accident prone...my partner’s in real danger’
LOVE ISLAND KEM SAYS HE’LL BE SKATING ON THIN ICE Olympic legends banned
TORVILL and Dean have been banned from ice skating by ITV bosses.
The Olympic legends will be judges when Dancing on Ice returns to telly next week.
But they aren’t allowed to do any routines themselves due to an insurance issue. Christopher Dean told the Daily Star Sunday: “In the past there has been an issue about health and safety that meant we couldn’t go on the ice before a certain time. This series they haven’t insured us to go on the ice. So they won’t let us go on.”
Jayne Torvill was stunned when she was told they wouldn’t be able to take to the rink.
She said: “I was standing there and I was like ‘really?!’” Christopher added: “We aren’t allowed to do any dangerous sports in case we get injured. But I don’t get that.
“We’re judges, so could still sit there and do that even if we were injured.”
Previously, Jayne and Christopher have had to be neutral because they were mentoring the celeb contestants. Christopher said: “We will be critical. It’s no good telling someone they are good if they are not. You’ve got to tell them ‘this is what you need to do to get better’.
“We are there to give our opinion. I am looking forward to being a judge. It’s a completely different role. We are looking for technique, but at the same time we know about performance.”
LOVE Island’s Kem Cetinay is worried he could kill his Dancing On Ice skating partner.
Clumsy Kem dreads dropping American Alex Murphy, 29, on her head. In our exclusive interview he said: “I’m more worried about it being ‘Death On Ice’. I’m just not sure whose death.
“I’m scared of dropping Alex on her head or tripping her over. She’s been great and has got a lot of faith in me, but I can be clumsy. “It will be a miracle if I don’t break something before the show finishes.” Kem, who became a household name this summer when he won Love Island with Amber Davies, said he spent months debating whether to sign up to join the skating competition.
He said: “They approached me to do Dancing On Ice as soon as I came out of the Love Island villa.
“I took two months to decide until they said time had run out and I had to make a decision. I thought, ‘What do I have to lose, apart from maybe a broken leg?’”
Kem, 21, recently split from Amber, despite making wedding plans after Love Island.
The heartbroken star added: “Dancing On Ice has been good for me. I’m training hard, I’ve really got into it.”
Kem was originally partnered with Meg Marschall, 25, but she left the series after rowing with her ex-boyfriend and fellow DOI pro Lloyd Jones, 29, who has also left.
Kem might be right to worry about hurting himself as a number of contestants have been injured on the show.
In 2007, TV presenter Andi Peters broke his ankle and journalist Kay Burley suffered a head injury in training.
In 2012, actress Jennifer Ellison cut her head open with the blade of her skate. writes ED GLEAVE.
They have made a big-money offer to get Kieran Hayler, 30, on board with just two days to go. A show source said: “It’s all very last-minute. But there’s still a hope they’ll get Kieran to agree to be a housemate.
“He’s hunky and he’s married to one of the most famous women in the UK, so there would be plenty of interest in him.” Kieran married Katie, 39, in 2013, but their romance has hit the rocks over his cheating.
A CBB source last night said producers are still finalising the line-up, adding: “Things often go to the wire.”
