Bond movie tune would be Sheer delight for Ed

- ■ EXCLUSIVE by JAMES INGHAM

ED Sheeran’s New Year’s resolution is to do the next James Bond theme.

The superstar singer has a list of career goals he wants to achieve before retiring.

And writing a 007 tune is his next target after he secured his first Christmas No.1 single. A close source to Ed, 26, said: “He has a list of ambitions he wants to achieve to cement his place in music’s hall of fame.

“Last year’s goals included releasing the biggest-selling album in the world, getting the UK and US Christmas No.1 and headlining at Glastonbury.”

British singers Adele and Sam Smith have written and performed the last two Bond tunes. Both went on to win an Academy Award and Golden Globe for Best Original Song.

Sources in Ed’s camp say he is now desperate to follow suit.

Our source said: “Ed has seen the success Adele and Sam both enjoyed from Bond songs and now he wants to do the same. “He’s a big fan of the films and knows a successful theme will add his name to an exclusive list of singers who will go down in history.

“Ed is a lovely laidback guy but he’s also incredibly ambitious. “He has a list of goals and is determined to achieve them all. Doing a Bond theme is top of his list.” Ed wrote a song for 007 three years ago but lost out to Sam Smith’s Writing’s on the Wall. He recently revealed on Ireland’s The Late Late Show: “I’ve had a theme tune written for about three years, just in case. It’s good.”
