Brazil ace Malcom in middle of Man Utd-Spurs tussle

- ■ by PAUL HETHERINGTON

TOTTENHAM and Manchester United are locked in a £30million battle for Bordeaux’s Malcom.

Spurs have made the Brazil winger (right) their top target in the January transfer window and believed they were close to a deal.

But that plan could now be hijacked by Premier League rivals United.

Old Trafford boss Jose Mourinho has wanted a winger since the Red Devils missed out on Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic in the summer.

United have now switched their sights to the Brazilian Under-23s international.

Malcom, 20, started his career with Corinthians and Bordeaux are believed to value him at £50m.

The Premier League clubs, though, think £30m is more realistic – but that figure could rise now United are involved.

EVERTON are leading the chase for Steven Nzonzi with his father arriving on Merseyside to discuss a £25million deal.

The Sevilla midfielder, 29, who played for Toffees boss Sam Allardyce at Blackburn, is also wanted by Arsenal and West Ham.

But the Goodison club are in advanced talks for the France midfielder (right).

Everton director of football Steve Walsh is also in negotiations with Turkish club Besiktas over another £25million deal – for striker Cenk Tosun, 26.

PAUL HETHERINGTON ABDOULAYE DOUCOURE will still be a Watford player on February 1 – much to the annoyance of Arsenal and West Ham. Both clubs are keen to add the powerhouse midfielder to their ranks but he is expected to sign a new contract at Vicarage Road. Doucoure arrived at Watford from Rennes.

STOKE have moved into pole position to sign Danny Ings on loan from Liverpool. West Ham, West Brom and Southampton are interested in the former Burnley man, 25, whose time at Anfield has been blighted by injury. Kop boss Jurgen Klopp will only allow Ings to leave on a temporary basis.
