leader, Mr Dudley is also paid to sit on the board of the Homes and Communities Agency.

The body plays a leading role in assisting the government in its efforts to tackle homelessness.

When he was appointed to the board last year, Mr Dudley said he would be paid up to £20,000 a year for the job. MUSICIANS Against Homelessness want “a day of fundraising events” to coincide with the royal wedding.

The campaigners, who raise thousands for homeless charities in the UK, launched their “Royal Bedding” day of action after the leader of Windsor & Maidenhead council demanded police clear the area of homeless people ahead of Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle in May. Alan McGee, patron of MAH, said last night: “Prince Harry is a compassionate man, I am sure he would be appalled by this callous approach.

“They are human beings, not rubbish to be swept out of sight.” The former Oasis guru and Creation Records boss, 57, asked the music community and general public to come together and put on gigs across the country on May 19.

He said “We can raise money and awareness for the poorest in society while some celebrate the pomp and glory of the aristocracy.

“Many of those on the streets are ex-military. They have served their country, now we must serve them.”

MAH has raised almost £100,000 since McGee launched it in September 2016.

More than 1,000 bands and artists have played almost 250 fundraising gigs. Co-organiser Emma Rule said: “MAH decided to stage this day of action ahead of our usual gig season.”

A new series of MAH events will begin in September.
