FANS have been urged to boycott Celebrity Big Brother after producers sent rape “joke” comic Dapper Laughs into the house.

He joined the Channel 5 show on Friday night.

Producers claimed this year’s series would be about female empowerment to tie in with the 100th anniversary of women getting the vote.

It launched last Tuesday with an all-female line-up including Rachel Johnson and India Willoughby.

But scores of viewers said having Dapper Laughs as a housemate made a mockery of the theme.

The comedian, real name Daniel O’Reilly, has previously fronted an ITV2 show where he helped contestants get sex with women.

But it was axed in 2014 after he joked during a stand-up show about a female audience member “gagging for a rape”.

Ex-EastEnders actor Michael Greco said: “So the bloke called Dapper Laughs, who made continuous jokes about raping women, is being paid a huge amount of money to appear on Celebrity Big Brother! This is why I sometimes hate my industry.

“Channel 5 you should be ashamed. I won’t be watching.”

Another critic, musician Dan Kerridge, said: “They are sending in Dapper Laughs who made a rape joke in 2014 about a woman in the audience. Disgusting. Boycott the show people.”

Meanwhile, TV writer Jonathan Harvey criticised CBB host Emma Willis for taking part.

He said: “Emma keeps saying it’s all about keeping women strong and they shove a bloke in who makes rape jokes – what a load of old s***e.”

Dapper has admitted he signed up for CBB in a bid to save his public image and last night he emerged as the shock favourite to win.

After he entered the house bookies Coral slashed his odds from 14/1 to 7/2 – putting him ahead of former Rochdale abuse detective Maggie Oliver.

Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead said: “We have rarely seen such support for a contestant before in all the time we have had betting on the show.

“Punters are pouring in to bet on Dapper Laughs and we’ll be looking at a big payout if he does go all the way.”

Dapper Laughs entered alongside exfootballer John Barnes, Boyzone hunk Shane Lynch, drag star Courtney Act, Love Island’s Jonny Mitchell, Apprentice contestant Andrew Brady and rapper Ginuwine.
