JAMES Arthur has revealed that former heroin addict Russell Brand is helping him stay clean after turning his life around.

The former X Factor winner has become one of the UK’s biggest music stars after beating his own addictions to sex and substance abuse – and overcoming anxiety attacks.

And James revealed he’s using reformed junkie Brand as inspiration after the pair met last year on The

Show, where Russell gave him signed copy a of his book. The Naked singer said: “Russell Brand is an incredible role model and ambassador for anyone who is trying to overcome addiction or mental health issues. He’s a real inspiration to me.

“He was a heroin addict but has been clean for 14 years now. I’m just trying to be another person who is contributing to that sort of stuff.

“I’ve been reading his book, which is phenomenal. The essence of that book is to own up to your problems, realise you’ve f***ed up, and apologise to the people around you that you’ve affected with your behaviour.

“It’s kind of what I’ve been doing the past few years. He’s got an invite to my tour if he ever wants to come.” James, who released his own book Back To The Boy earlier this year, also praised other high-profile celebs for speaking out about their mental health battles.
