First pics of shock rape plot in Corrie

THESE are the first photos from Coronation Street’s shocking male rape plot.

David Platt, played by Jack P Shepherd, stands at the bar moments before he is drugged and later attacked.

Mechanic Josh, who arrived on the cobbles during Friday night’s double episodes, spikes his drink on a night out.

Viewers will not see the sex attack but will know what has happened when David wakes up the following morning in Josh’s EXCLUSIVE SUSAN HILL

The hard-hitting storyline will concentrate on the aftermath of the attack and the impact it has on dad-of-two David, a popular character with viewers. Scriptwriters have worked closely with charity Survivors Manchester to ensure the subject is portrayed sensitively.

Jack has also been talking to the charity about how best to reflect David’s turmoil as he struggles to cope with what has happened. An ITV insider said: “It’s a huge story for Jack. There’s still a lot of stigma around male rape and that’s explored here.”

Actor Sean Wilson will briefly return to the soap as David’s dad, Martin. Last in Weatherfield in 2005, he filmed three episodes as Martin tries to help David.

Our insider added: “There are some really emotional scenes between David and his dad. It’s going to be heartbreaking.”
