I MISS BRUCIE Widow Wilnelia tribute to TV icon

SIR Bruce Forsyth’s widow has spoken for the first time about how much she misses the showbiz legend.

Grieving Lady Wilnelia, 60, said losing her husband of 34 years had be “incredibly difficult”.

At the National Television Awards Wilnelia said: “It’s been incredibly difficult. We all miss him and are just taking it a day at a time.”

The much-loved entertaine­r was honoured with the NTA’s inaugural Bruce Forsyth Entertainm­ent Award, which was won by Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway. Wilnelia, pictured left, told the audience: “I’m so proud and honoured that this special award named after my darling Bruce. I know he would have loved it because showbusine­ss was his life.

“I also know if he was here this evening he would be saying to all of you, ‘It’s been nice to see you, to see you nice’.”

Wilnelia was making her first public appearance since Bruce’s death aged 89 in August.

Speaking afterwards, she told how is much the award meant to her and their family. She said: “Everyone has been so supportive. It’s been difficult but this award means so much. It is a lovely tribute.”

Sir Bruce was a national treasure thanks to an entertainm­ent career spanning more than 75 years.

He was most loved for presenting Strictly Come Dancing and TV hits like The Generation Game, Play Your Cards Right, and The Price Is Right.

He died on August 18 last year after a series of illnesses.
