Pensioners feel the winter chill

MANY OVER 65s FEAR THEY WILL NEED TO USE SAVINGS OR CREDIT TO KEEP WARM

-

More than two-fifths of over 65s are worried cold weather will lead to higher energy costs and more than one in 10 don’t feel they can afford an increase in their bills.

Those on standard variable rate tariffs may be paying even more and almost a fifth of over 65s are on these high tariffs, equating to two million country.

There is also a fatalistic attitude problem, with more than half of Brits believing the proposed price cap would not do anything to reduce their bills.

More than a third did not even realise the government planned to introduce a cap.
