LIMIT FOR NEXT GENERATION

FAKE BLUES? NEVER: Conte says honesty will always be his policy where it is going next. The first innovation I saw surrounding players’ welfare was the driver. Some players would have a driver, whether it was a friend or they were paying someone to drive them to training and back.

“Will that morph into something bigger like a helicopter or a private plane? There’s a chance. Who knows whether we will see players’ helipads at training grounds.

“But there’s a chance that certain clubs of certain sizes will start to take a look at it. As long as you perform on the pitch then it will be good professionalism getting a helicopter rather than sitting in a car for four hours.”

Dyche admits that players taking their jet-set lives to another level will not go down well with the fans who pay towards their sky-high wages – but that is modern life.

He added: “Some fans might look at it and think, ‘What’s going on?’

“But at the same time they were probably thinking like that when the first players started turning up in Rolls-Royces. I saw a story about Phil Mickelson flying to an Open course to investigate some holes.

“He gets out, has a look and off he goes in his private plane. That wasn’t happening when Arnold Palmer was on the circuit.

“So often things which are questioned are later taken for granted.

“Without a doubt, the face of football has changed. It’s gone from a working man’s game to a corporate game.” QUIDS IN: Sanchez
