TALENT: Farnworth shows his skills

MANCHESTER CITY have certainly hit the heights this season – but John Farnworth reckons he is going even higher.

The Lancashire lad is tackling the Mount Everest Football Challenge in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.

Farnworth, 32, is going to juggle a football as far as he can up the world’s highest mountain.

The ex-Preston North End apprentice will set a world record during his 10-day Himalayan adventure, during which he’ll be assisted by two Sherpas.

As a football freestyler, Farnworth has already found his way into the Guinness Book of Records EIGHT times.

The former world freestyle champion said: “My grandfathe­r passed away from Alzheimer’s this year and seeing what he and the family went through prompted me to try and do something positive in his memory and to help others.

“I’m attempting to raise as much money for the Alzheimer’s Society as possible.”

Farnworth, who has had to endure City’s success this season as he is a Manchester United fan, developed his skills at one of renowned coach Simon Clifford’s Futebol de Salao Brazilian soccer schools.
