Cornick has Hatters feeling gr-eight again

-

HARRY CORNICK’S strike saw leaders Luton return to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over promotion rivals Exeter.

The Hatters were beaten at home by Wycombe on Tuesday but Cornick’s fifth goal of the season helped them maintain an eight-point advantage.

Wycombe continued their own push for the top as two stoppage-time strikes saw them snatch a 4-3 victory against Carlisle – a fifth straight win.

Matt Bloomfield and Luke O’Nien sent the home side in at half-time 2-0 ahead, but the Blues turned things around after the break.

O’Nien was dismissed when Kris Twardek’s shot hit his arm on the goal line and Danny Grainger stroked home the resulting penalty.

Joe Jacobson missed a spot-kick for the hosts before goals from Jamie Devitt and Cole Stockton put Carlisle 3-2 ahead.

Wycombe did not lie down though, with Marcus Bean (above) and Paris Cowan-Hall scoring in five minutes of time added on to snatch all three points.

Elliott Hewitt netted twice to help third-placed Notts County to a 4-1 win over Crewe. Shaun Miller put the Railwaymen ahead but goals from Noor Husin, Hewitt (two) and Mason Bennett secured victory.

Mansfield made it three wins in a row with a 3-1 result against Barnet – Alex MacDonald, Will Atkinson and Danny Rose all on target.

A stoppage-time equaliser from Michael Bostwick earned Lincoln a 2-2 draw with Swindon, while a Sean McConville brace guided Accrington to a 3-2 win over Stevenage. Lee Collins’ effort midway through the second half saw Forest Green dent Coventry’s promotion hopes with a

2-1 victory, while Ben Stevenson and Tom Eastman were on the mark in Colchester’s

2-0 win over Newport. Lewis Young got a late goal for Crawley in a 2-1 victory at Chesterfield and new signing Alex Fisher scored in Yeovil’s

2-0 win over Cambridge. Grimsby and Cheltenham drew 1-1 and Morecambe played out a goalless game at Port Vale.
