Morrissey ultimatum on teeth

- By ROBIN COTTLE

SINGER Morrissey insists people brush their teeth before speaking to him in case they have any meat stuck in their gnashers.

The staunch vegan was recording his latest album Low In High School at La Fabrique Studios in Paris last year when he issued a bizarre list of dos and don’ts to technicians.

A source said: “He insisted that every single person in his presence brushed their teeth immediately before they entered the studio so there was absolutely no trace of anything meat related on their teeth.

“People obliged because he’s a big star, but everyone was left scratching their heads.

“Everyone’s entitled to their opinions and if he believes meat is murder that’s fine, but dictating everyone else’s dental hygiene is taking things a little far.”

The singer also had a strict “no staring, no shorts” rule in his presence.

The source added: “A lot of celebrities pull the whole ‘don’t look at me card’, but not being allowed to wear shorts in front of him is a little niche.” BRITISH skate ace Elise Christie smashed the Winter Olympics record as she targeted a first ever medal in the competition.

She stormed through her heat in the 500m short-track speed skating as she banished her nightmare experience four years ago.

Christie will also go for gold in the

1,000m and 2,000m events in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

The Scottish star crashed out twice in Sochi, Russia, last time out and was disqualified in another event.

Elise roared around the track in

42.872 seconds and will go for the win on Tuesday.

Britain’s snowboarders suffered more bad luck as UK trio Jamie Nicholls, Billy Morgan Rowan Coultas failed to qualify for the slopestyle final. Coultas was placed

18th in his heat after falling on both his runs at his first Olympics. Meanwhile, Channel 4 started the Games in high spirits, teasing a competitor with a rude name.

The broadcaster could not resist a quip when the unfortunately-named German Andreas Wank took to the field in the ski jumping.

Channel 4’s official Twitter account joked: “So excited about #WinterOlympics2018...We really hope this guy pulls it off.”
