Posh and David line up megabucks telly deal in US BECKHAMS: THE REALITY SHOW
THE Beckhams are set to sign a megabucks deal to star in their own Osbournesstyle family reality show.
The couple aim to capitalise in the US on the launch of David’s new MLS football team in Florida and Victoria’s planned Spice Girls reunion.
They are in talks with NBC-owned reality giant E! Entertainment, which has produced 14 seasons of Keeping Up With The Kardashians and a raft of other reality shows.
Posh and Becks have previously refused to allow cameras into any of their homes to shoot them and their four children.
And they were further put off when she was branded “too aloof ” by US critics in 2007 and NBC canned a planned series called Victoria Beckham: Coming To America after just one episode which drew only 4.9million viewers.
They are looking for deals as David’s huge investment in the Miami team is putting a massive strain on their finances, despite their estimated combined net worth of £237m. Two weeks ago he admitted in a magazine interview that he and his wife are “saving the pennies now”.
A senior executive at NBC said: “Coming To America didn’t really work in the way we had hoped but a show featuring all the Beckhams, including the children, is a different ball game.”
Although talks are at an early stage, the family fee from an unscripted series would dwarf the £10m Posh, 43, expects to bank from her latest Spice Girls hook-up with Mel B, Mel C, Geri Horner and Emma Bunton.
A source close to her in New York, where her fashion label has its US base, was quoted in a magazine last week saying: “Victoria always wanted to be seen as royalty, but now she’d like to share more of her silly side. She’s telling the family they can make this a hit.”
At the same time David, 42, is already heading negotiations for a broadcast deal for his new Miami side, which will kick-off in 2020.
And he is widely expected to follow fellow MLS newcomers Los Angeles FC – a big city rival of his former Galaxy team – by signing a groundbreaking deal with social media network You Tube TV.
Part of the package would include a two or three-part documentary on Beckham’s epic struggle to build a team and stadium from scratch. But unlike their reality show, it will not include the rest of his family.
