Mo Voices his joy at meeting long-lost mum REUNITED AFTER 22 YEARS
MO Adeniran has met his mum for the first time, thanks to The Voice.
Last year’s winner was given up at birth and put into care, before being adopted.
But in December he and his mum were reunited after more than 22 years.
Mo told the Daily Star Sunday: “My mum came over from Gambia to see me. I absolutely loved it. We haven’t been together since the day I was born.
“It was great to speak to her. I got to find out more about my family. It was really nice getting to know about the life she’s lived. And she got to know about my life. She’s an exceptional woman. She’s been through a lot. “I was just really happy to speak to her and find out more about her life. I loved every minute. Now we’ve got a really healthy relationship.”
Mo credits the show for giving him the courage to make contact with his mum. He said: “My confidence grew over time when I was on the show. For a while I was struggling to accept a lot of things. But the show gave me a sense of freedom and the opportunity to be my own person.
“My confidence has grown a lot. I’ve still got a long way to go but I’m in a good place. “Meeting my mum had been on my mind for a while. But it was something I needed time to be able to do. Being on The Voice allowed me to sort out situations.
“With my music I just want to make my mum and my family proud.”
Mo is gearing up to release his debut album and will return to perform on The Voice at one of the live shows.
