Danny’s Dyer warning to TV bosses
DANNY Dyer wouldn’t let his daughter Dani join the new series Survival of the Fittest until he had grilled the show’s bosses.
The EastEnder was originally against his girl doing the show, which has been dubbed Winter’s Love Island.
But he had a change of heart after talking to the ITV2 show’s producers to make sure that she would not be exploited.
A source on the show said: “Danny didn’t want his daughter taking part at first. It sounds ironic after all the trouble he’s got himself into in the past, but he didn’t want the family or Dani to be humiliated.
“He was uncertain about her taking part so he spoke with producers and bosses at ITV to get assurances that everyone wouldn’t be having sex and she would be safe.
“It wasn’t until he had grilled TV executives that he gave her his permission.”
Dani, 21, a barmaid, confirmed: “Like any dad, when I first told him he had his protective hat on. “He’s told me, ‘Don’t do anything silly’. “But he knows the person I am and he is really excited and it’s nice to have that support at home.
“He’ll probably be quite emotional as well. My mum and dad will be watching it every single night.” Survival of the Fittest sees rival sexes go head-to-head in South Africa during various challenges.
The Daily Star Sunday can exclusively reveal that the six male and six female contestants have been on lockdown to stop any romances forming before tonight’s opening episode.
Our source added: “Contestants landed in South Africa on Saturday night and had their phones confiscated straight away.
“The sexes are kept completely isolated from each other and they don’t have any way of contacting each other.
“Producers didn’t want any bedhopping and friendships or romances forming before they come face to face. Once the show has started it’s fair game.”
Laura Whitmore hosts the show, which features model Tia Latham, who was raised as a boy until the age of 12 when her family discovered she was female.
