Eddie sees nothing wrong with Howe pal David is doing things
EDDIE HOWE has hailed Huddersfield boss David Wagner and his Premier League scrappers as “outstanding”.
The Yorkshire club’s first season among the elite since 1972, which began so promisingly, is in danger of collapsing after five straight defeats.
And following their slide into the bottom three, the Terriers are being labelled negative and aggressive.
But Bournemouth manager Howe (left), who takes his in-form team to face Huddersfield this afternoon, refuses to hear a bad word about his German counterpart’s side.
Howe is a big fan, likening the Cherries’ remarkable rise into the top flight to Huddersfield’s own stunning story. The highly rated English coach said: “David is an outstanding manager and he has proven it.
“I’ve seen Huddersfield quite a lot this season and they have performed well and not changed their philosophy.
“They’ve very much stuck to what they did in the Championship. There’s no one appreciates that more than me and how difficult that can be. I think they’re an outstanding team.”
A seven-game unbeaten run had Bournemouth sitting ninth coming into the weekend’s fixtures.
But Howe said: “This season has proven the league is unpredictable.”
Wagner, meanwhile, senses his side’s next run of Premier League fixtures could define their season.
They face relegation rivals West Brom, Swansea and Crystal Palace in three of their four matches after today’s visit of Bournemouth.
“This period started after the final whistle against Manchester United,” said the Huddersfield boss.
“Now our time starts, we have to all stand up, stick together and fight.” Huddersfield v Bournemouth
