BARC’S FIELD OF SCREAMS

- ■ by GARY HEATLY

SCOTLAND captain John Barclay has asked the fans at Murrayfield to raise the roof this afternoon and help the team kick-start their Six Nations campaign with a win over France.

The country has spent the last week analysing the 34-7 defeat to Wales.

But the Scots are a different beast at home and back-row Barclay, 31

(right) said:

“We love playing at Murrayfield.

“I was speaking to some fans who were watching a training session and they are very excited about coming back to Murrayfield, as are the players.

“We’re very pumped to come back here. It’s awesome and I know the fans will be behind us in this one.

“It works both ways, we’ve got to do our part on the pitch and equally if the crowd are making a great noise then the buzz the guys get is quite special.” France lost to Ireland in Paris last week and many expect them to arrive in Edinburgh with all guns blazing. Barclay added: “I think they will try and play physical rugby.

“It’s up to us to meet that challenge head on but also to play up-tempo rugby with a lot more accuracy than we did last week. “We want to move their big men around the pitch and keep the ball alive. Against the Welsh, we probably tried to do that too soon. “It’s a tricky balance and that’s one of the jobs that I, Greig Laidlaw and the other leaders in the team have got to do.”
