Crazed hairdresser’s court woe

TROUBLED David Platt will face further hell when he is jailed after missing a court date for attacking Gary Windass.

As the soap’s harrowing male rape storyline continues, David is shocked when a warrant is issued for his arrest.

After realising his mistake, he turns himself in to the police.

But it is too late for David, played by Jack P. Shepherd, and he is told he is heading to jail.

And as David is left facing a lengthy period behind bars before his case gets to court, viewers will be left fearing for his mental state.

In heart-wrenching scenes to be screened next month, the hairdresser pleads to his lawyer: “Just get me out of here.”

His lawyer explains: “That’s not going to be happening any time soon. You’re a flight risk now. I’m sorry David, as far as the system is concerned you can’t be trusted.”

David is distraught and asks when the court date will be.

His lawyer says: “I’m a lawyer, not a magician. You’re on remand until a court date becomes available. I’m sorry.

“Just keep your nose clean. You need all the brownie points you can get.”

David was raped by twisted mechanic Josh Tucker after he spiked his drink.

But instead of telling his family what happened he has bottled up his rage and hit the self-destruct button. Earlier this month viewers were horrified when David nearly beat Gary to death during a charity boxing match.

So when he misses a court date for the assault charge after his attack on Gary, his friends and family are at a loss about how to help him.

A Corrie insider added: “David’s head is all over the place and he completely forgets he is due in court.

“He hands himself in the following day, but it’s too late.

“The courts do not take kindly to anyone failing to turn up and he is put on remand until his trial.

“He could be inside for months, which is going to be heartbreaking to watch given everything he is going through.”
