World Cup drinks on heavyweight Fury after Manchester comeback

- ■ by NICK PARKINSON

TYSON FURY boxes his first round in nearly two-and-a-half years on June 9 – and then plans to get a round in at the World Cup.

The former WBA-IBF-WBO world heavyweight champion makes his comeback against an opponent yet to be confirmed at Manchester Arena.

Fury, 29, then intends to fly out to Russia and buy drinks for England fans there to watch the group games against Panama and Belgium.

He said: “One hundred million per cent I will go to Russia for the World Cup.

“I was over there for Euro 2016 and me and my mate Timmy are going over there for the World Cup.

“I bought some big rounds for the lads out there. And it will be a rematch — let’s just hope we can beat teams like Iceland this time round.”

Fury has not fought since he upset the odds by out-pointing Wladimir Klitschko for his titles in November 2015.

The Gypsy King has since served a two-year doping ban and admitted to problems with drink and depression.

But Fury insists he is not coming back for the money as he targets winning back his old belts from British rival Anthony Joshua.

He said: “Not everything in life is about money and I realise that everything can be taken away with the flick of a switch.

“So you have to be very thankful for being healthy and happy in life. The rest is a bonus.

“I don’t care about money, I don’t care about fame, I don’t care about glory.

“I’m not interested in having a fast car and suit.

“The important thing is that my wife loves me and I love her and we love our family and that’s it.

“She is very much important in my career, she is my rock, she is the backbone of our relationship and she has helped me with everything I’ve ever done.” FISTS OF FURY: Tyson gets handy in the ring against Wlad in 2015
