Brook up for Brit of a classic

- ■ by HECTOR NUNNS

KELL BROOK insists that a mega-fight with Amir Khan will send British boxing into orbit.

The ex-IBF welterweight world champion reckons an all-English tear-up blows all other options out of the water.

Sheffield’s Brook, 31, is already looking at making the 150lb weight at which Boltonian Khan knocked out Phil Lo Greco last weekend.

And he craves another occasion for the nation to savour – one that would add to a tradition of fights like Froch v Groves, Eubank v Benn, Bruno v Lewis and back to Cooper v Bugner.

Brook (below) said: “We are both on a high and coming off a good win.

“The time is now – there is no bigger fight out there than him and me.

“They are also talking about other names but the money won’t be anywhere near me fighting Khan.

“We are the same age and with British boxing on the up it would go off the scale with that fight.

“If you are a boxer from this country you love the really big all-British fights that get everyone fired up.

“I remember the excitement around the last Nigel Benn v Chris Eubank fight.

“Carl Froch against George Groves, they were two massive fights too.

“They are wonderful nights and that’s what I want before I end my career.”
