MOVIE hardman Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has become hooked on fishing.

The former pro wrestler turned Hollywood superstar, 46, regularly tries for a big catch at his private lake.

And even when he’s working he often angles for breaks so he can go off fishing.

Film director Brad Peyton is a big pal of Dwayne’s and has seen how much he loves it.

He said: “Dwayne fishes a lot. He loves spending time at home doing it. He raises fish there to catch and release.

“He’s a quiet guy when he’s not working. He’s always so busy with his career, so fishing is a chance for him to relax and take a break. It’s like meditation for him.”

The Jumanji actor’s lake at his Florida home has plenty of largemouth bass, sunfish, bullhead catfish and carp.

When he filmed the action flick San Andreas in Australia he was thousands of miles from home but he couldn’t wait to get his rod out.

Speaking at the BAFTA Games Awards, Brad added: “Dwayne was always going off in between filming days to fish somewhere.”

Dad-of-three Dwayne is famed for his tough image after years of wrestling.

But off-screen he’s nothing like that. Brad said: “Dwayne is just like everybody else. He has vulnerabilities. He’s an inspiring guy.” Dwayne’s latest outing is in the action blockbuster Rampage. But the dad-of-three isn’t just the leading man – he’s a producer too. Brad, who directed the flick, said: “We talked a lot about his character. He leaves me alone to do a lot of the story stuff and the action set pieces. But when it comes to his character he’s very involved.”
