Beth hit by new torment
BETHANY Platt is set to suffer fresh heartache on Corrie over her grooming hell.
In tomorrow night’s episode she will meet newcomer Kayla Westbrook who, we can reveal, is her rapist’s daughter.
It’s just months since Bethany, played by Lucy Fallon, was ruthlessly groomed by evil Neil Clifton (Ben Cartwright).
The arrival of his daughter, played by Mollie Winnard, in Weatherfield will bring back traumatic memories for troubled Bethany.
A show insider said: “Kayla joins the team at new restaurant Speed Daal as a waitress. Bethany meets her without realising who she is.
“But before long she will find out Kayla is the daughter of the man who abused her. Her world falls apart. Just when she thought that there was a chance to move on it looks like she is set to be reminded of past events on a daily basis.”
Bethany will break down after learning Kayla’s identity.
She will later suffer flashbacks of her ordeal at the hands of Neil.
Our source added: “Bethany struggles to adjust to having one of Neil’s family members so close to her.”
Neil is in prison after Bethany testified against him in court in scenes aired last October.
A show source said: “Viewers will have to wait to see why Kayla is in Weatherfield. She keeps her identity secret at first.
“So it’s possible she is secretly plotting revenge on Bethany for having her dad arrested and banged up…or she could be keen to try to make amends for her father’s terrible crimes.”
Bethany’s ordeal will be the latest dark storyline to rock The Street.
David Platt, played by Jack P Shepherd, has also been the victim of rape at the hands of Josh Tucker (Ryan Clayton).
