Toon lasses love a big fight out!

GEORDIE girls have clocked up the most fines for being drunk and disorderly for the sixth year in a row.

Newcastle women top the UK chart for police fixed penalties.

They racked up 167 fines, but Lancashire lasses ran them close with 125 tickets being issued in the county.

The police crime stats appear to show Newcastle girls mirror the behaviour of the Geordie Shore TV gang who are famed for their drunken antics.

Last year it was revealed the show’s stars neck an incredible 1,300 bottles of booze while filming a series. They famously enjoy big nights on the town when they get “mortalled”.

In 2016, which is the most recent year of data available, a total of 167 £80 tickets were written out for women under 30 for being drunk and disorderly in the Northumbria Police force area, which includes Newcastle.

Typically the women are arrested, held in cells overnight until they sober up, and then allowed home after being issued with a fine.

The female cast of Geordie Shore have run into trouble with booze in the past with them often being photographed staggering drunkenly into cars after heavy nights on the town.

Charlotte Crosby, who won Celebrity Big Brother in 2013, has twice been convicted of drink-driving, while Vicky Pattison was convicted of assault after she admitted lashing out with a stiletto at two women in a Newcastle club while “extremely drunk” in 2013.

Inspector Steve Wykes of Northumbria Police said: “Newcastle has a reputation as one of the safest cities in the country to enjoy a night out.

“One of the reasons for that is the preventative approach we take with those who are acting in a drunken and disorderly manner.

“That involves arresting those who are behaving in a disorderly manner to prevent them from going on to commit more serious offences.”

Andrew Misell of Alcohol Concern said: “Getting drunk is not going to do anyone any favours.

“You’ll feel awful the next day, and if you do it on a regular basis you’re at serious risk of damaging your health. That goes for men just the same as women. We need to be careful about pointing an accusing finger at female drinkers in particular.

“None of us, I hope, want to go back to the days when men’s drunkenness was accepted but women doing the same was somehow shameful.”
