ANDER EYES HERR-RAISING FINISH

- N by LINDSAY HERRON n by PAUL HETHERINGTON

HERRERA insists Manchester United need to use their final three matches of the campaign as a springboard for success next season.

Following Friday night’s shock 1-0 defeat at Brighton, United now play at West Ham on Thursday, then are at home to Watford on Sunday.

They then complete their programme with the FA Cup Final against Chelsea the following weekend, which they reached courtesy of Herrera’s semi-final around footballers for a long time, I’ll work it out very quickly who fancies this challenge and who wants to come with me.

“And if there are people who don’t fancy it and want to be somewhere else, good luck to them.

“I want a squad of players here who are focused on the future not the past, I want players who want to come with me on this journey, who want to go and take the challenge to everyone that’s in this league and are willing to go out there and give everything they’ve got.

“That’s the simple message and I’ll work out these people very quickly.”

“If we finish second we can then look to build on that. So that is what we are thinking now.

“We have to try to win every remaining game, finish second, then fight for the FA Cup. Winning games means you face a final with more confidence.”

Herrera has returned to his best form in the closing stages of a season in which he has been hampered by injuries.

He said: “I am a very bad patient. I want to play, I want to be ready and I want to be available for the manager and the team.”

After being an unused substitute at Brighton as manager Jose Mourinho rotated his squad, Herrera is expected to play at West Ham – and start the FA Cup Final.
