ACTION MAN LENNON’S SEEING

- By STEVE MILLAR and HARRY PRATT

AARON LENNON admits he was in a “dark, dark place” before moving to Burnley gave him a new zest for living.

Sadly Lennon (left) received treatment for a stress-related illness 12 months ago when he was at Everton after being detained by police.

But since joining Burnley in January, the winger is getting the game time he craved at Goodison and feels a different guy – with regular football under new boss Sean Dyche dramatically turning his life around.

Lennon, 31, said: “I was in a dark, dark place for a long time and now just waking up every day and getting excited to come to training again, enjoying each day again, is massive for me.

“It’s hard to put into words. The turnaround from this time last year is massive.

“The football world has been brilliant to me, especially through what I went through and the difficult times.

“Probably for the last four or five years I was not enjoying my football. But for the period since joining Burnley, I am really enjoying it again.”

Lennon is revelling in his new world of doing what he does best – playing football. He added: “For me, not playing at the end of the week, you’re not going home a happy person and you’re not enjoying it.

“There’s a lot of talk about footballers not caring. But I don’t think there are many footballers who don’t get picked at the weekend, go home and are not bothered. I wouldn’t have said that I’d fallen out of love with football.

“I’ve been through, though, long periods
