Harvey in handcuffs ‘made me feel good’

- ■

FALLEN film mogul Harvey Weinstein was branded “the cult leader of Hollywood” by a woman who claims he raped her.

Actress Rose McGowan also labelled the accused tycoon a “predator who ate a lot of my life”.

The star of The Scream and Planet Terror spoke out in her first interview since Weinstein surrendered to police in New York on Friday.

McGowan, 44, watched Weinstein’s court appearance from a TV studio and declared: “The man who pinned me down had handcuffs on him today.

“This is a big strike into the heart of abuse of power. I didn’t actually believe this day would come.

“To see him do the Bill Cosby old man walk on the way in – so we already know what he is planning – and to see him in cuffs on the way out, whether he smiled or not, that’s a very good feeling.”

Rose, who added that she now refers to Weinstein as “The Monster”, criticised female stars who she claims knew of his behaviour but said nothing.

“It still makes me mad,” she added. “If I was living next door to someone and I heard them beating up their kid every night, I wouldn’t turn my TV up louder.”

More than 80 women have come forward with serious claims against Weinstein, 66, who has been formally charged with rape, sexual abuse and sexual misconduct over incidents involving two alleged victims.

He has been released on bail of a million dollars in cash. Weinstein’s lawyer Benjamin Brafman said his client would plead not guilty, adding: “We intend to move very quickly to dismiss these charges.”
