‘I owe it all to hit series’

FORMER winner Cara De La Hoyde says she owes everything to her Love Island appearance.

The babe won the second series of the reality show in 2016 when she paired up with Nathan Massey.

Cara said: “Before Love Island I had nothing. I owe a lot to the show. I’ve got best friends, a partner and now my baby boy as a result of going on it. I’m very lucky.” After pairing up on the show, the couple split in April last year before announcing Cara was pregnant with Nathan’s baby. But they reunited in November, just days before she gave birth to Freddie-George.

The loved-up pair have had stints on The Only Way Is Essex recently and have just bought a home.

She said: “Having our baby boy brought us back together. He is five months old now and he is just getting his little personality.

“I want lots more babies, but Nathan has said we need to get sorted and moved and then I can have as many as I want, we just need to get the stressful bits out of the way first. “I would love loads of children. I love being a mum.”

Cara believes shows like Love Island have helped reality shows become a dominant force on British TV.

She said: “Love it or hate it, reality TV isn’t going anywhere so you better get used to it.”

The ITV2 show defied the odds to scoop a Bafta earlier this month – winning an award while the likes of David Attenborough’s Blue Planet 2 missed out. Cara, 27, told the Daily Star Sunday: “People were upset about Attenborough missing out and I get it, he is a god. But Love Island shouldn’t be cast aside just because it is reality TV.”

The beauty was recently crowned Inspirational Mother of the Year by Janet Ginnings, founder of the Today & Tomorrow charity which supports single parents.
