‘I shrank like Alice for my Wonderland wedding’

AN overweight brideto-be shrank like Alice In Wonderland ready for her fairytale wedding.
Sarah Hatton, 30, dropped six stone in 18 months to ensure she looked fab on her big day.
She ditched sweets and savoury snacks after her weight hit 18 stone following the birth of her daughter Ivy.
And with her Alice In Wonderland-themed wedding planned, Sarah shed the pounds in time to tie the knot with fiancé Dave Hatton.
Sarah, from Shepperton, Surrey, said: “My wedding was the perfect motivation and I was thrilled as the weight began to fall away. When I hit 12st 9lb, I finally had the confidence to try on a slinky size 12 dress. It fitted like a glove.
“Dave and I had the best day at our wedding, and now I’m an even trimmer size 10.”
In Lewis Carroll’s novel Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland, Alice fell down a rabbit hole and shrank after drinking a potion that said “drink me”.
Sarah’s problem was seeing snacks saying “eat me”.
But she said: “This time, I’m determined not fall down the rabbit hole again.
“I’d always struggled with my weight but in my 20s I managed to get from size 24 to a 12 using diet shakes.
“I felt fantastic and so when I met Dave at a local gig, I had the confidence to ask him out. It was love at first sight.”
Dave proposed two years later in 2014, and Ivy was born the following year.
But Sarah’s contented home life took its toll on her waistline and she would gorge on Pringles and Yum Yums.
She said: “I was supposed to be planning my Alice In Wonderland-themed wedding but all the while I was stuffing my face.”
By February 2016, Sarah weighed more than 18 stone – almost all the flab she’d worked so hard to lose in the past – but with 18 months to her wedding she joined Slimming World which set her on course for a fairytale ending.
