MOYESIE TO WAIT FOR A PREM CLUB

-

DAVID MOYES is again looking for a job – but is hopeful it won’t be a long wait. That’s because the experienced Scot is convinced his credibility has been restored through securing West Ham’s Premier League safety, following a nightmare season at Sunderland. Moyes, 55 (below) suffered relegation at the Stadium of Light, then resigned when he felt he wouldn’t have the resources to return the club to the Premier League. The former Everton and Manchester United boss believes he was proven right when the Black Cats suffered another humiliating relegation to League One in the season just ended. But he is satisfied with the job he did at West Ham, where his remit was to keep the club in the top flight. The last thing he needed was another relegation on his CV but eventually that was avoided with relative comfort. The Hammers then decided not to extend Moyes’ contract, which was up at the end of the season, and last week appointed ex-Man City boss Manuel Pellegrini. But I get the impression Moyes’ departure had a mutual element to it. Ideally, he wants his return to be with a Premier League club. That was underlined when he decided not to make himself available for relegated Stoke, who had him on their shortlist to succeed Paul Lambert. Stoke then pressed on with their move to appoint Gary Rowett from Derby. PAUL HETHERINGTON FARHAD
