Durant: More to come from Warriors

-

THE Golden State Warriors demolished LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers to sweep their way to a third NBA title in four years on Friday night. Kevin Durant (left) was named the finals’ Most Valuable Player and afterwards he insisted the Warriors are far from done.

Dubbed American sports’ newest dynasty, Durant said of his team-mates: “We’ve got a bunch of guys in the locker room that don’t care about anything but just being better players every day and winning. It makes the environment great.”

Backed by Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson, Durant led the Warriors to an easy 4-0 win in the best-of-seven series over the Cavs.

Only one thing can really change the landscape of the NBA over the next few years – the fact that James is now a free agent.

He could create a “Super Team” of his own in Philadelphia – with Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid – or Houston – with James Harden and Chris Paul.

Asked if he had played his last game for the Cavs, James said: “I have no idea at this point. The one thing that I’ve always done is consider my family. I’ll consider everything, but my family is a huge part of what I decide to do.”

James said he had “pretty much played with a broken hand”. Reports suggest he punched a whiteboard in frustration after losing game one.
