Eoin warns Aussies there is Mor to come
EOIN MORGAN wants to throw down the gauntlet to the Aussies today by making Scotland suffer.
England’s one-day captain (left) insists he is in hot form and confident after smashing a 69-ball ton for Middlesex.
Morgan, who missed the start of the season with a finger injury, is relishing the forthcoming five ODI clashes with the men from Down Under. The first takes place at The Oval on Wednesday – but Morgan, 31, is not taking world cricketing minnows Scotland for granted at The Grange in Edinburgh.
He said: “It was nice to get some runs for Middlesex. Spending some time in the middle is vital coming into a block of international games, especially when you’ve come back from injury.
“We have five hard games with Australia but first we have to deal with Scotland. The days have gone when there used to be a potential banana skin. Everyone is more professional now and Scotland will be believing they can beat us. Cricket has moved on and you do not underestimate any opposition.
“We haven’t played Scotland for quite some time and I expect an extremely difficult game.”
In yesterday’s tour game at Lord’s, Australia beat the hosts Middlesex by 101 runs.
The Aussies scored 283-6 in their 50 overs with Travid Head leading the way with 106 before they bowled out Middlesex for 182 with Kane Richardson taking 3-31.
