2018 WORLD CUP FINALS: FOUR DAYS TO GO THERE’S NO LIMIT Gareth: I won’t stop players from dreaming

GARETH SOUTHGATE has told his World Cup squad to chase their dream in Russia and “make the impossible possible.”

England’s players are openly discussing their belief that they could become world champions this summer.

And Three Lions boss Southgate’s pre-World Cup message is: “Why would I limit what they feel is possible?

“My job is to allow people to dream, to make the impossible seem possible.

“They are at an age with a hunger and enthusiasm and no little quality, so they can keep improving.

“But we have got to improve to reach the latter stages of the tournament and that’s going to take a lot of hard work over the next few weeks.

“But I am seeing evidence that they are embracing that challenge. I have to be the one that allows them space to grow and the freedom to play.

“We want to go as far as we possibly can. None of us are going to get excited by just getting out of the group but we have got to play and prepare perfectly to do that first.

“What is pleasing me is that they are embracing the way we are working. Their profession­alism in training is top, their competitiv­eness is really good and they are taking on the tactical understand­ing, which is important.

“The spirit among them is notable and gives us a really good platform to build on.”

England travel to Russia on Tuesday ahead of their opening group game against Tunisia on June 18 and are unbeaten in their last 10 matches.

And despite coming on the back of a disappoint­ing Euro 2016 finals, Southgate says his squad believe in themselves. He added: “There is an
