Cancer battle of TV Chris

-

TELLY actor Christopher Timothy has revealed he fought prostate cancer in secret to protect his family from the trauma.

When the EastEnders star was diagnosed with the disease in 2008 he didn’t even tell his kids.

In a new interview, he said: “There were only one or two people who knew.

“It was not long after my first wife had died, so my children had lost their mum.

“I felt that to tell them that I had prostate cancer, which I knew that I had it and there was a threat of some sort, I felt that it would be wise not to make things worse for them.

“But I did tell them when I was given the all clear.”

Christopher shot to fame playing vet James Herriot in 70s drama All Creatures Great And Small.

He is now working with Prostate Cancer UK to raise awareness.

The veteran star has recently learned the risk of getting the disease can be hereditary.

Talking about his sons, Christopher, 77, added: “I have now urged them to get tested and they absolutely will. I will nag them about it.”

OVER-55s are splashing their kids’ inheritance on new hobbies and holidays.

In a study, 48% said they are happier now than they were in their twenties and thirties.

A third planned to buy a holiday home or a bigger home in the UK.

Almost a third thought there was still time to chase their dream job.
