Top job’s terror for Benedict
BENEDICT Cumberbatch has revealed his next big ambition is to become a Hollywood director.
But he admitted in a US interview he is clueless about life on the other side of the camera.
He said: “I’m terrified – so I’ll probably have to start incredibly small.”
Cumberbatch, 41, is enjoying his first ever off-screen role – as executive producer – as well as playing the drug-addled aristocratic title character in the new series Patrick Melrose, which is on Sky Atlantic.
He said: “That thing of being there at the front door is a wonderful experience.
“It’s my first feeling of that inception-to-completion thing, which I kind of want as a director.”
But father-of-two Cumberbatch, who shot to fame in the BBC’s Sherlock, fears the switch could cost him precious family time.
He added: “The time commitment would make anyone hesitant.”
