Hot shot Ray-ses the bar

- ■ BRITISH SUPERBIKES

BRADLEY RAY stormed to his second British Superbike pole of the year with a blistering lap at Snetterton yesterday.

The Buildbase Suzuki rider clocked a time of 1min 46.632secs right at the end of qualifying to steal top spot from Josh Brookes.

Be Wiser Ducati’s Glenn Irwin had initially set the pace but with just a minute to go, McAMS Yamaha rider Josh Brookes hit the top.

His lap looked like it would be enough to stay at the front but Ray (left) was close behind and crossed the line seconds later to seal the deal. He said: “On that last lap I just had to grit my teeth and push as hard as I could and I’m just so happy with the result.”

Brookes will line up second today as Irwin rounds out the front row.

Leon Haslam, who has been tipped to take the title now that Shane Byrne is out with injury, had ran well until the final qualifying session but was only able to record the fifth fastest time on his JG Speedfit Kawasaki.
