It’s all con wrong for Sal

WEATHERFIELD mayor Sally Metcalfe is devastated when she discovers she has been conned out of £40,000 of council funds.

Dashing widower Duncan turned up last month and spoke to Sally about applying for a mayoral grant for the charity he set up as a tribute to his late wife.

This week Sally’s husband Tim will become suspicious of the charmer as he continues to hang around his wife and asks her to fast-track some of the funds.

Desperate to find out what he is up to, Tim enlists the help of his close friend Steve McDonald and the pair head to Duncan’s office.

But when they arrive they are shocked to find it empty.

Tim tries to warn Sally but sadly it’s too late and she is sickened to discover that the £40,000 has vanished. As our picture shows, she is paid a visit by the council’s head of finance, Jeanette, who tells Sally that they have no option but to call the police.

A Corrie insider said: “Duncan knows exactly what to say to charm Sally into not only awarding him a grant but to fast-track the funds.

“He tells her that he has found a great deal on some hospital equipment and wants to get it before the price goes up.

“But sadly he’s nothing but a low-life conman and poor Sally will be left wondering what it will mean for her mayoral career.”

Fans will be able to watch all the drama as Sally finds out that she has been conned this Friday.
