SWEDEN’S MATCH RATINGS

- BY TONY STENSON

ROBIN OLSEN

Hit by England’s hunger to make history. Had no chance of stopping Maguire’s header. Saved superbly from Sterling but then Alli’s header went through him.

EMIL KRAFTH

The youngster recovered from an early error and remained cool but had a weakness of giving the ball away in decent areas. Never stopped beavering away.

VICTOR LINDELOF

Still to make his Man United breakthrough but has been a real hero for Sweden. Did a good job keeping Kane quiet, forcing the England icon to drop back.

ANDREAS GRANQVIST

Tough cookie. Not the fastest but solid, dependable and always around when needed. Stepped up his game in the second half and was unselfish throughout.

LUDWIG AUGUSTINSSON

Stayed wide to try to keep a close watch on Trippier. Was a lost cause. Often second best. Was quick and loved to get forward, which was often his weakness.

VIKTOR CLAESSON

Ran and ran but with not much to show for it. Like his team-mates, lacked the true finesse to make his mark and never made one crucial, telling pass. Left field in tears.

SEB LARSSON

Worked hard, tried hard to feed his attackers but was never allowed too long to dwell on the ball by England’s hard-working defenders. Could not fault his effort or commitment.

ALBIN EKDAL

Showed nice footwork but his finishing touches left much to be desired. Never stopped running and fighting for his country. He was spiky at times but never over the top.

EMIL FORSBERG

Was good with both feet but never truly made the kind of mark he has done in previous games. Was needed more for defensive duties. Eventually subbed.

MARCUS BERG

Always kept chipping regularly away at the England defence. Not the fastest. Demanded more support from team-mates. Had a running battle with Stones.

OLA TOIVONEN

Little or no contribution to Sweden’s cause. He was superbly marshalled by Maguire and Stones and was substituted, although the odds were stacked against him.
