Rainie’s feisty mum returns to fight Max for custody of baby Abi

CORA Cross arrives back in Albert Square with a tempting offer for her daughter Rainie. Troubled Rainie married her former brother-in-law Max Branning in a secret business agreement as he battles to get custody of baby Abi.

But firebrand Cora is also fighting for custody – and she is going to do everything she can to make sure she wins.

As our pictures show, she goes to see Rainie to make amends and try to get her on-side.

Last week, Max hurt Rainie by telling her he has no feelings for her after they kissed.

So with Rainie reeling from his rejection, fans will have to wait to see whether this prompts her to change sides. An Albert Square insider said: “Rainie was gutted when Max made it clear they will never be anything more than business partners. “She doesn’t take the rejection very well and is even tempted to start using drugs again. Then her mum turns up out of the blue and although they’ve never had the best of relationships, Cora tells her she wants them to get things back on track.

“It’s a real curveball for Rainie as she’s never been that close to her mum – mainly because of all the grief she’s caused her family over the years.

“But with Max having rejected her she may well be persuaded to change sides. This is going to be one hell of a custody battle.”

Viewers can see Cora’s dramatic return this Tuesday at 9.15pm.
