Real will pull out of bidding for Hazard

-

REAL MADRID boss Julen Lopetegui has ditched plans to sign Chelsea’s Eden Hazard this summer.

Instead new Bernabeu coach Lopetegui plans to hand midfield star Isco a key role. Madrid have been linked with the Chelsea and Belgium ace since the selling superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus for £99million this month. But sources close to the European champions believe Lopetegui – sacked on the eve of the World Cup by Spain after announcing he was joining Real after the tournament – wants to build his team around Isco, 26.

Madrid are admirers of Hazard, 27 (left) but are aware that he would cost around £200m to prize away from Stamford Bridge.

They are also keen to avoid blocking the first-team path for Marco Asensio, 22, and have decided against making a ‘Galactico’ signing this summer. ADRIAN STILES

PREMIER LEAGUE new boys Wolves could launch a bid for former Real Madrid defender Pepe.

Besiktas want £5million for the Portugal international, 35, who has less than a year left on his current contract.

He joined the Turkish outfit last summer after a 10-year spell at the Bernabeu.

Wolves have already signed Pepe’s Portugal team-mate Joao Moutinho, from Monaco for £5m, keeper Rui Patricio from Sporting Lisbon, while attacking midfielder Diogo Jota made the switch from Atletico Madrid.

Molineux boss Nuno Espirito Santo has also signed forward Raul Jimenez on loan from Benfica.
