VAGRANT CALLS FOR JUSTICE

- ■ by ISOBEL DICKINSON isobel.dickinson@dailystar.co.uk

THE homeless man paid by drunk stag party Brits to have the name of a groom tattooed on his forehead has called for the louts to be jailed.

Last week this newspaper exclusively revealed that vagrant Tomek Matuszewski was paid £90 to have the name Jamie Blake branded on his head.

The Polish national says he can’t remember much about the incident in the Spanish resort of Benidorm – but says he was devastated when he saw himself in the mirror the next day.

Tomek, 34, said: “I’d like to see the culprit go to jail as well as the tattooist. I want justice and I hope karma will come back to them, him and the guy who made the tattoo.”

Since our story a crowd-funding page has been set up to fund the removal of the tattoo. It has so far raised more than £3,000.

Tomek has been touched by people’s generosity – and has now vowed to turn his life around.

He says the cash will help him go to rehab to beat his drink and drug addiction.

The Daily Star Sunday broke the shocking story of Tomek, who at the time said the money for the tattoo was too good to turn down. The inking was supposed to also read “North Shields, NE28”, but the tattooist couldn’t complete it as Tomek was in too much pain.

He said at the time the money was “like winning the lottery” but added: “The next day when I saw my face in the mirror my reaction was, ‘What the f*** have I done?’”

Police are now investigating the incident – and Tomek said he wants the culprits and tattooist to face justice.

Tomek was accompanied to the police station by Benidorm British Business Association president Karen Maling Cowles.

She brought his plight to light and started the crowd-funding page to get the tattoo removed.

Jamie Blake, 36, has denied the claims and said he was not even in the tattoo parlour.

He said last week: “I was not there at the time. There was a big group of around 30 of us drinking in the bar. There was a group of Irish lads there as well and Tomek.

“I got drunk and was asked to leave the bar. I was never in the tattoo parlour and as far as I know he was not paid any money.”

Dragon’s Den tycoon Duncan Bannatyne was among those to hit out at the stag party on Twitter.

He posted: “Does anybody know this groom or his mates. Can we name and shame them? This is disgusting.”

Tomek said he had been touched by the global attention since the news broke and said he owed it to people to get on the straight and narrow.

He said: “I am going to have the tattoos removed, I’m delighted about that of course. With the money raised for me I am going to start rehab so I can stop drinking.”

With tears in his eyes he said: “For the first time in years I feel like good things are starting to happen for me, and that I might have a future.”

Life unravelled for Tomek when he started drinking heavily after splitting from his ex-fiance in Wroclaw, Poland.

He said he put on a pair of trainers and walked all the way from Poland to Spain.
