Lag tells of jail rat ‘plague’

-

FED-UP lags have whinged that their cells are plagued with ants while rats roam around on food trolleys.

Disgruntled inmates have complained about the state of our prisons to lags mag Inside Time.

One prisoner called J Arpa, who is serving time in HMP Rochester in Kent, said he had spotted vermin crawling around where food was stored.

He said: “I’m a cleaner on one of the wings on the new side of HMP Rochester. The wings are disgusting and riddled with rats.

“I have personally witnessed rats on the servery trolley where the food is stored before collecting for the wings.”

Another lag at HMP Peterborough said his cell was crawling with ants. He said: “It is a private jail with plenty of resources compared to public jails, so why are we having to suffer an infestation of ants? We wake up with them all over the beds and walls.”

Last month it was revealed Britain’s prisons are overrun with rodents. The Ministry of Justice said there were 136 rat infestations in jails in south-west England in 2016/17 compared to 115 the year before.

TV STAR Kirstie Allsopp has revealed how she often pops to the pub in a fire engine.

The 46-year-old Location, Location, Location star said she and her partner Ben Anderson usually drive an old fire truck to the pub when they are at their holiday home in Devon.
