Moses will fight to be a winner

-

fourth-minute lead. The new keeper had a definite swagger and dazzled with some deft footwork inspiring confidence in his defenders and showing the kind of self-belief Loris Karius can only dream about.

Minutes after Milner’s opener Dutch star Georginio Wijnaldum (above) headed the Reds into a 2-0 lead.

Salah scored a superb left-footer in the 58th minute to make it three, then made way for Daniel Sturridge, who missed two decent chances before netting in the 73rd minute.

Alberto Moreno completed the rout with a thunderbolt finish and in their eight pre-season games Liverpool have now won six and lost just one.

And that is impressive form that should have even Man City boss Pep Guardiola looking over his shoulder. IT took Victor Moses a decade before he finally reached the Promised Land – so he promises not to walk away from a shot at glory without a fight.

Having made his debut aged 17, Moses (below) went through the longest of apprenticeships, surviving administration at Crystal Palace before moving to perennial strugglers Wigan.

Then Chelsea called – but even though he joined the Blues in 2012, it was another four years before he felt his time there really began.

By then he was on manager No.4 at Stamford Bridge after being loaned out three times, to Liverpool – where he made only nine starts – Stoke and West Ham.

After being orphaned at 11, when his parents were murdered during a riot in his native

Nigeria, Moses was sent to London by worried relatives and his teenage years were spent in foster care.

So when people talk about Chelsea going through a tough time this summer they are missing a point.

Because

Moses, 27, has come through a real crisis in life.

The 2016-17 Premier League winner said:

“Every single one of us here are looking forward to this season.

“We have got a new manager now and we are looking good in training.”

Moses was 26 when he finally won the Premier League, and said: “That win meant a lot to me . I really enjoyed it as it was one of the best moments of my life.

“I had moved from club to club, had loads of experiences as a player, so to win the title was amazing. But I want to move on from that, move on to next season. Every season is a test for you.

“It is a hard league to win – the strongest in Europe.

“Chelsea are a massive club, a club that normally wins big trophies. We don’t want that to change.”
