VICTORIA’S JUST BATTY FOR MATTY

MATTY Barton gets an attack of the green-eyed monster in Emmerdale over Victoria Barton’s friendship with David Metcalfe.

He is thrilled this week when David offers him a job at the shop. But his joy turns sour when he sees some flirty banter between Victoria and David.

What Matty doesn’t realise is that sister-in-law Victoria has been harbouring feelings for him ever since he returned to the village.

Isobel Hodgins, who stars as Victoria, admitted: “She’s started to feel things, which is a shock to her and she doesn’t quite know how to process it or what to do with it, so it comes out of the blue for her.

“It’s having that closeness again because she’s been on her own. She’s happy to have her best friend back.

“But because he makes her feel so nice and makes her feel good again, she is a bit like, ‘wow!’.

“He’s just trying to be a good friend but she’s reading into what he’s saying.”

But it seems the course of true love won’t run smoothly as Isobel warns there will be a few bumps in the road ahead. She added: “There will be obstacles that face us as it’s not the most traditional of relationships.

“That’s all to come. There’s a lot to unpack within this.”

One hurdle is Matty’s cluelessness about Victoria’s feelings for him. Ash Palmisciano, who plays Matty, added: “I think at the moment he’s so happy to have his best friend back.”
