Moos flash: TV Nat is cow farmer

- ■ EXCLUSIVE by ROSS KANIUK

TV beauty Natasha Kaplinsky has gone from news to moos as a farmer.

The newsreader and former Strictly Come Dancing champ plans to add around 100 cows to her farm. Natasha owns 200 acres and keeps 10 alpacas, six chickens and three sheep. But after being plagued by thieves stealing equipment from a storage barn, she has submitted plans to convert the building into a home for a herd manager to look after 60-100 organic dairy cows. A source told the Daily Star Sunday: “The Natasha we see on telly basically has a double life. She’s super-glam, polished and together. “But at home on the farm she’s in wellies and out all hours. Taking on 100 cows is quite an impressive step though!” Natasha, 45, and her husband Justin Bower told the council they needed a full-time farm manager on site to run the business.

They currently employ two part-time workers who live six and 10 miles away respectively. One of them will no longer be needed if the conversion gets the go-ahead. Natasha’s planning agent said: “The farm has been moving to full organic with 60 to 100 dairy cattle. This can only happen if there is a full-time agricultural worker.”

Plans show the 15m x 9m barn will be turned into a three-bedroom home 100 metres from Kaplinsky’s 15th Century, Grade II listed farmhouse near Uckfield, East Sussex.

The agent added: “This barn has been used for agricultural storage.

“But recently there have been a number of thefts from the barn and valuable items stolen. The barn, once converted, will retain its agricultural appearance.”

Two years ago, the mumof-two was given the goahead for a replacement barn nearer to the couple’s home in a bid to deter the thieves.

Wealden Council is expected to make a decision next month.
