STEPS singer Claire Richards has vowed not to quit the band for a second time despite signing a huge solo deal with Sony.

The chart-toppers fell out in 2001 when lead singer Claire and Ian ‘H’ Watkins left to perform as a duo.

Claire, who has just launched debut single On My Own, said: “When I signed my deal I told all the band individually.

“I was scared after what happened last time but I made it clear that whatever happens I wouldn’t quit this time.”

Claire originally planned to go solo in 2003 but ditched plans when her 2002 H & Claire album bombed at No.58 and they were axed by Warner Records.

She added: “The label had spent a fortune promoting the record so when it bombed I was so mortified and embarrassed I locked myself away and fell out of love with singing for years.

“As I got to 40 I realised I wanted to try again. Steps had a successful comeback but I never expected a major record company to offer me a deal.

“We put out the last Steps album ourselves because no label cared or wanted to know.”

Claire’s album My Wildest Dreams is out on November 2.

Barton Hanson DEVOTED Love Islander Josh Denzel says he would be the “stupidest person in the world” to cheat on Kaz Crossley.

Asked if he is worried about girls cracking on to him at club PAs, Josh told me: “I’m with the most beautiful woman in the world, who is also my best friend. I’m not going to find anything close to that in a club. I feel like I’ve found The One, so I’d be the stupidest person in the universe to then cheat.”

Then again, reality TV stars aren’t known for being the sharpest tools in the box.

LAURA Anderson needs to up her game if she doesn’t want to get pied off for a third time.
