Moore the merrier as Rodriguez bags pair
THIS was Championship football at its best – and worst.
Full-blooded, all-out attacking, dreadful defending, dramatic penalties and head-holding howlers, it had the lot.
West Brom boss Darren Moore was understandably bubbling about the four goals, and first win since dropping from the top flight, but said: “It was a crazy game in terms of goals scored.
“There won’t be many team come here to Norwich and get four goals.”
The Baggies went behind as Jordan Rhodes snaffled a trademark finish from three yards to tuck away a low cross from Teemu Pukki.
But Norwich boss Daniel Farke bemoaned a horror show by his keeper Tim Krul who brought down Dwight Gayle to concede a penalty which Jay Rodriguez tucked away with ease.
Krul then allowed a speculative long-range effort by Rodriguez to go through his hands.
“It was tough for Tim, especially in his first game at Carrow Road,” said Farke.
“It was unbelievable mistakes and we have to sort those out but I’m sure Tim will never concede a goal like that again.
“There were so many killer moments for us. The first goal, we missed a penalty, then the second was a killer.”
In between those two goals Rhodes had a tame penalty saved by Sam Johnstone after Onel Hernandez was taken down by Chris Brunt.
Moore said: “The defining moment was the penalty save from Sam. He made it look easy. We then got a tune out of the boys second half.”
Rodriguez showed his cunning for West Brom’s third as he dummied a low Matt Phillips cross before Harvey Barnes drove home.
Moore could not have asked more from his men, except to perhaps defend better as a low Hernandez cross was knocked in by FInland star Pukki from close range.
Sub Hal Robson-Kanu swept in from a Brunt corner for the fourth before Norwich skipper Grant Hanley set up a tense finale by smashing in a six-yard header.
