Klopp has a Pep in his step

- ■ by BRENDAN KEANE Last five meetings Overall record

CHRIS KAMARA reckons Jurgen Klopp could come back to haunt Pep Guardiola this season – and steal his Premier League crown just months after he crushed his Champions League dream.

The Sky Sports pundit cannot see a repeat of last year when Guardiola’s Man City stormed out of the blocks and never looked back.

Now, it is Liverpool who have a Pep in their step as the Premier League prepares for its first Super Sunday of the season, with City facing Arsenal and Liverpool meeting

West Ham United.

Kammy said: “The thing about Jurgen Klopp is he has addressed the goalkeeping situation which has caused them problems for years.

“And the fact they tore apart Man City in the first leg of the Champions League should give them hope that things could turn around. He seems to be evolving as a manager.

“The fact remains they got themselves to a Champions League Final – even though they didn’t win it.

“Pep will be aware of this and defending the title is really difficult. You have to wonder what is his priority this year, what has his owner said to him, prioritise the Champions League or the Premier League? It’s hard to do both.

“If they opt for the Champions League as their top aim there are going to be situations on a Saturday when he doesn’t play his strongest team.

“It’s going to be hard to hold on to that title.”

And Kammy believes even if Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are earning a living abroad, the best bosses are Premier League ones.

He said: “Everybody sees now that the Premier League is the place to be.” THE ALPINE MESSI: Swiss ace Shaqiri has settled into life at Anfield Feb 2018: Liverpool 4 W Ham 1 Nov 2017: W Ham 1 Liverpool 4 May 2017: W Ham 0 Liverpool 4 Dec 2016: Liverpool 2 W Ham 2 Feb 2016: W Ham 2 Liverpool 1
