ATTACK at Liverpool with his big prize in the game

-

team is getting higher every year. Liverpool are one of the best teams in the world – everyone can see that. Now, we have to do it on the pitch.

“Everybody is very focused on that and with the transfers the manager has done you can see that he wants to go forward and to make progress.

“He wants to compete with the best teams in the world and he is going in the right way.

“We want to compete with the biggest teams like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona.”

Despite the success he has enjoyed throughout his career, it has not all been rosy in the garden for Shaqiri recently.

He left Stoke this summer following their relegation from the Premier League with criticism from the likes of former team-mate Charlie Adam ringing in his ear.

Shaqiri, though, has never lacked self-belief and he is certain he is fitting in perfectly in his latest surroundings. “This is my fourth year in the Premier League now so I know how Liverpool play,” he said.

“I know how good players like Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino are. I have started working well with them and passing well with them.

“I think we have a big team with a lot of quality that can win every game. We have to try to win every game because all of them are important.

“I can play in many positions up front and that is positive for the coach. He can rotate sometimes and if he decides to play me in the middle of left or right it is not a problem.

“I can play these positions and I think it is a positive for the team when you can play many positions.”

Positive? Shaqiri is certainly that – about himself and also Liverpool’s prospects this season.
