It’s not Grim

-

NEW Radio 1 ★

Breakfast host Greg James says he’s “not arsed” if there’s a public backlash over him replacing pal Nick Grimshaw.

Popular Greg says he is prepared for scrutiny and abuse when he takes over the iconic show tomorrow.

But he said: “I’m not arsed if there’s a backlash. I know people will be scrutinising me but I won’t be losing sleep over it.

“I’m experienced enough to hold a show like this and I’m focusing on having fun and making it the best show possible.”

The former Drivetime host is planning to tap up Grimmy, Sara Cox and Zoe Ball for advice – but notably not Chris Moyles, the longest-ever host.

He added: “I’m going to call Grimmy, Zoe and Sara to see what tips they can give me.

“I probably won’t call Chris but I’m good friends with his old co-star Comedy Dave so I’ll call him.”

Radio 1 Breakfast with Greg James launches tomorrow.

SIMON Cowell will

walk down the aisle at a big gay wedding next month – but only as the best man.

The music and media mogul has been picked for the duty by colleague, good pal and groom Nigel Hall

– who is the Global Head of Syco Television.

A guest at the star-studded service told me: “Nigel is the boss of all Simon’s shows so guests will include Cheryl, David Walliams and a host of other famous faces from X Factor, BGT and AGT.”

My money is on Walliams rugby tackling Cheryl to catch the bouquet.

LOVE Island’s Zara McDermott has denied splitting with hunky ladies’ man Adam Collard.

She said: “We are together, loved up and looking to move in together in Essex.

“I trust Adam and he gives me no reason not to.

“It’s been hard because he’s away so much on PAs but that doesn’t mean we’ve split.”

Zara also denied rumours Ellie Brown and Charlie Brake, plus Samira Mighty and Frankie Foster have parted ways.

She added: “Ellie and Charlie have had some fights like every couple does but they are stronger than ever now.

“As for Samira. I don’t feel like it is over yet but I know Samira will make the right decision for her.”

The superstar has started work on her eagerly-awaited next record – with insiders originally claiming it could be set for a 2019 Christmas release.

But bosses at Adele’s label Sony want to bring forward the date – knowing it will mean millions of extra sales worldwide.

But before her army of fans gets too excited, the Hello singer has made it clear the album will be released on her terms.

My music industry source said: “Adele has started work on her next album and has been making really strong progress.

“Everyone at the label and with her team are really happy and there’s now talk of moving the release date forward from November to the end of summer or even potentially earlier.

“Sony know the album will shift millions in the weeks leading up to Christmas but believe a summer release could almost double sales for the year.

“At the end of the day the only opinion that really counts is Adele’s as she will decide when the record is complete.

“Her last album 25 was almost done at one point before she scrapped it completely and started again, so noone is counting their chickens yet.

“But having said that everyone is pleasantly optimistic it will be ready earlier than expected.”

Details around Adele’s fourth record are a closely guarded secret.

But sources claim the world conquering London lass has been in the studio for most of the summer writing songs.

Her fourth album, which won’t be named after her age, will undoubtedly be another huge seller.

Her first three albums have so far sold over 60million copies collectively, with 10m of those sales from the UK alone.

My source added: “Adele’s album release is huge news for the music industry and vital not only for Sony but the industry as a whole.

“She is the only artist selling those kinds of figures.”
